My Guilty Pleasure

I think a lot of people secretly enjoy listening to classical music. Listening to soundtracks is a guilty pleasure of mine, they just open up my imagination and help me escape from reality. Often they help me come up with artistic ideas for my photography. There's something so relaxing and inspiring about listening to soft instrumentals with no words or stories attached to them. I couldn't say which ones are my favourites as often it depends on my emotion at the time, and if I like a certain composer, I usually listen to their pieces until i'm sick of them. But I thought i'd share a few of my current favourites with you.

Soundtracks
Often when i'm watching TV shows or movies, I notice the soundtracks in the background. They bring so much emotion to an otherwise ordinary scene. Without soundtracks, everything would seem so scripted and flat. So here are a few scores i've recently been inspired by:

Revenge - Farewell Fauxmanda
I guess this song is quite emotional, it plays in the show when there's a scene relating to Amanda/Emily and Jack. I love how dramatic the music in Revenge is, it definitely adds more class to the over all production.

Treetops- James Newton Howard
I love the music in The Hunger Games! This particular song reminds me a bit of Native American music, maybe it's the flute? But there's a kind of tribal rawness mixed in to the piece.

Once Upon A Time - Robin Hood Leaves Storybrooke
This show is borderline tacky but their music is actually quite good. This song is very fairy tale like, and with the birds singing in the background, it's very atmospheric.
Hans Zimmer- Interstellar main theme
Hans Zimmer must be one of the most well known composers out there. His work is always so epic!
I've definitely overplayed the Inception soundtrack lol. Interstellar's soundtrack is just as good but very eerie, if you've seen the film, you'll know why.

Lana Del Rey
I also class a lot of Lana Del Rey's songs as dreamy and theatrical. I recently found out that she works closely with a composer called Daniel Heath to create her instrumentals which explains the ever prevalent cinematic vibe. Here are my favourites from her:

West Coast - Dan Heath Orchestral Remix
It's so nerdy that I prefer orchestral remixes, isn't it? haha
I just loveee the drama!
Young and Beautiful Orchestral Version - The Great Gatsby
When I heard this song in The Great Gatsby, I literally thought 'I neeed to Youtube this when I get home'. It took forever to find it because I had no idea it was Lana Del Rey! (only a snippet was played) I actually went and bought The Great Gatsby Orcherstral Soundtrack and it's really good.
National Anthem
If you're impatient, I suggest you start at 1:41, there's a long intro. But I enjoyed watching the story, it's loosely based on the Kennedy's in the 60's which is quite emotional. The ending literally gave me goosebumps, it's so moving because it's inspired by a true story, but to fully appreciate it, you have to watch the whole thing.
Blue Jeans
The music video version is actually better than the album version because there's more of a soundtrack at the beginning. I actually can't get over how much I admire Lana Del Rey. She's the only artist I know of that is so cinematic and romantic. I lover her originality.

Happy listening <3

L'oreal Kerastase Dicipline Review

I've been wanting to do this review for ages but never got around to it! I've been using this line for months, probably half a year now and it's still my favourite product of all time! Literally, it's the best shampoo and conditioner I've ever used.

My hair is so annoying, being 1/4 black (Antiguan) & 3/4 White (English), the afro in the mix is watered down so much so that it never really goes curly, it just develops a frizzy wave which sometimes doesn't even start from the root. Proper nerd hair. So naturally I've always wanted to straighten it, but straightening frizzy hair is a nightmare! literally the moment i step outside, no.. the moment i step away from my mirror, it poofs up, forming a lovely frizzy mess.

Well, this used to be  the case, until I discovered this amazinggg shampoo and conditioner!

I can actually blow dry and straighten my hair without any frizz! it's magical.
